What are Thinking-Intentions?

The twenty-one Thinking-Intentions are the unique discovery of the original Deva research in 1977-1981. (Explained in E I Quick Guide)

Thinking-Intentions are the energisers and directional forces of thinking. By analogy they have been likened to ‘the molecules in the chemistry of thought’ or ‘the muscles of your mind’.

‘Thinking-intentions’ are nicknamed ‘Thunks™’ - a memorable word for a concept new to the world. Scientists gave us ‘quarks’ and Effective Intelligence gives us ‘Thunks™’, a kind of mental Table of Elements. With just these 21 you can know, with much more insight, both the workings of your mind AND the kinds of thinking you need for each task. This is the unique contribution of Thunks™.

Thinking is complex. Rhodes’ TIP brings the simplicity needed to be effective. In a clear and straight-forward way, it shows the unique patterning of each person’s Thinking-Intentions. It penetrates to the basic structures of thought.

Once you know the pattern of your own thinking, you can take hold of the core muscles of mind and seize the high-ground of strategic management of thought. You gain powerful leverage on all problem-solving and creative endeavour.

While we could simplistically list the Thinking-Intentions here, they would have little meaning without live debriefing coupled with the explanatory materials that accompany the Rhodes’ TIP. So please satisfy your curiosity by contacting a qualified E I practitioner from the Directory

E I Tools for the Mind

The research identified 21 core thinking elements. By naming and instrumenting them, E I has made these ‘thinking-intentions’ concrete, tangible and accessible, as tools for the mind.

Once you can name your thinking operations and concretely work with them as if they were tools, you can improve how you use them and choose which to use when and where.
