Effective Intelligence arose from Rhodes' pioneering research into raising organisational performance through creativity and innovation. Jerry founded his consultancy practice, Joint Development Resources, in 1975 and his work led to being invited by Philips into a joint project devoted to setting new standards in Skilful Thinking. This Deva Project from 1977-1981 laid the foundations for his action research with a widening circle of international companies, creating the thinking system known as Effective Intelligence. Since 1985 this leading-edge knowhow has been taken up, under licence, by significant companies in USA, Canada and South America, Europe and Scandinavia.

Before this, he was Managing Director of Kepner Tregoe Ltd, where he set up businesses in The Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Formerly, Jerry's experience in Marketing and as General Manager in consumer durables enabled him to become responsible for Education in Rank Xerox UK and for the entire Rank Organisation, where he designed and implemented the system for Management Development.

Jerry's degree and Diploma in Education are from Oxford University, England.
