E I in Education
Trials in Education
E I practitioners work mainly in businesses. Some work is done in educational
institutions. A number of programmes have been run in higher education. In the
UK, for example at
-
Aston University
-
Lancaster University
-
London Business School
Several projects have also been trialled in schools.
-
In the UK, at a comprehensive school.
-
In the USA, at a Charter School.
Evidence is emerging that teaching thinking as an integrating language for
learning, across all subjects, really brings dividends, because it:
-
enhances all-round intelligence
-
reveals the underlying thinking processes within all subjects
-
values both critical thinking and creative thinking equally
-
prepares students not just for the next stage in education, but for life as a
whole.
E I is ideally suited for this since it is a language that is easy to learn
and assimilate, giving a rounded picture of thinking. A research project
conducted by Alastair Sandiforth demonstrated how quickly the E I language of
thought can be learned and applied by 13 - 14 year olds.
